Denton Corker Marshall was commissioned to fit-out an office building in central London to accommodate a Foreign Office department which has the responsibility of looking after official visitors to the United Kingdom.
The building was to provide open plan office accommodation on the upper floors for staff with meeting and reception areas on the ground and lower floors. These ‘public’ facilities would be used for, and by, the visitors during their stay in the UK.
The brief required that the accommodation be contemporary in style, in part to counteract any pre-conception visitors may have about the UK being ‘old fashioned’.
